    GO LIONS

If the Lions lose to a horrible Falcons team, all the comments will be deserved.

Posted by wrfetish on 09/06/08 at 6:14PM

If the lions lose to the falcons they might just as well get all the rookies pt.A team with a rookie qb and headcoach shouldn't be able to come close to the best 7-9 team in history.

    Posted by sprawl125 on 09/06/08 at 7:07PM

Why do you read up on the Lions fetish?

But you are right, they shouldn't.

worse start - lions 14. hey rod, earth calling rod - where is the D ??

    Posted by manip07 on 09/07/08 at 1:22PM

This is just a horrible start. Well atleast we know how the rest of the season is going to be. can't stop the run can't tackle and we still can't do anything on offense.

Posted by Swive on 09/07/08 at 1:28PM

Cheer up, at least Nick Harris is having a great day!

    21-0 disgusting!

    Posted by bruce49418 on 09/07/08 at 1:41PM

It only took Kwame 8 mos. to resign for the good of Detroit. Here's hoping Millen will do it after 7 seasons and 1 quarter.

Posted by wrfetish on 09/07/08 at 1:43PM

Hows the new o-coordinator doing against starters?

This defense couldnt stop running water

Posted by kawachunk on 09/07/08 at 3:31PM

Maybe ford should fire anyone with a name that starts with "M"

Posted by kawachunk on 09/07/08 at 3:38PM

Yup, same O-line ,same "D", same GM, same team

Posted by kawachunk on 09/07/08 at 3:44PM

Pre-season dont mean crap, lions may not win a game in sept.

Posted by lloydcarsuck on 09/07/08 at 3:51PM

I understand our whole defense is terrible, but I watched Paris Lennon on several plays, and the guy is just bad, constantly missing tackles and I don't know what hes reading out there but several times he would let turner run right by him. The guy is awful and it infuriates me to think that two years ago we could have had our future middle linebacker in Dave Harris but we passed on him because we had Lennon. Patheic!

Posted by kawachunk on 09/07/08 at 3:52PM

I never thought I would say it....the Lions defense is only the 4th worst after game 1.

    Posted by manip07 on 09/07/08 at 3:54PM

Another crappy season!!! Looks like we have players that can try to stop the pass. But no one to stop the run. I am glad we gave the rookie quarter back his confidence.

Posted by shempp on 09/07/08 at 3:56PM

    Travis Fisher is garbage.

    GARBAGE

    Posted by lionsfan4eva on 09/07/08 at 4:02PM

    Awesome!

That was some great tackling Lions! Who said nepotism and washed up Tampa players couldnt' get the job done??

This was a blowout. Lions slappies and coolaid drinkers, well, the best we can say is that it was a good preseason!

    3 and 13 looks optimistic!

    Posted by guitarrock24 on 09/07/08 at 4:03PM

i just have to put out there that i am so dissapointed that words cant even describe it...its just like the life just got sucked outta me. the front seven is the key and you know what, the front seven got there F***in A**es handed to them, way to coach them up rod!!! maybe a rookie cant start in the tampa 2 but paris lennon sure doesnt deserve to start there either. did u guys see some of the things he did? he dove into the blocker numerous times, yeah thats right he DOVE into the blocker, he didnt try and shed him he DOVE. this game was an abomination and our defsense has gotten worse every year since rod has been here. what does that say?

    Posted by BOLIONFAN95 on 09/07/08 at 4:04PM

After watching this game we are done for the season. Everyone else can run on Lion except the lion. I can't watch the rest of the season. Bye

Posted by kawachunk on 09/07/08 at 4:04PM

Everyone should bring wet paper sacks to the home opener. What an embarassment that game will be. Pack 28 Lions 17

    Posted by manip07 on 09/07/08 at 4:05PM

Wasn't it cool how we stopped Turner. Oh yeah thats right we didn't.
I especially like how our defense just folded together as a whole. I mean atleast they are playing on the same page.

    Posted by adguy2 on 09/07/08 at 4:06PM

    Ha Ha Ha...

All you frickin slappies, kiss off!

    This team blows!

What excuses are you gonna come up with now?

All of you should be emarassed and ashamed for your support of this BS...

    Posted by tigers182469 on 09/07/08 at 4:11PM

This was clearly Todd Jones fault.

    Leyland's got to go.

Posted by mrhunter on 09/07/08 at 4:11PM

That's it!! I can't take it anymore!! I am now LIONS FREE!!!

Posted by LeapYrMan on 09/07/08 at 4:11PM

I am 56 years old and every year since the 60s it's the same hope at the beginning of the season that this is the year I can be proud of the Lions. There haven't been many seasons where I am not getting grief from co-workers or friends that have long ago realized what should be obvious...the Lions suck. There is a stench permeating this franchise and it's rotten to the core. The old man Ford just makes me sick with his elitist attitude of not seeming to care. He has let these cancers linger (Matt Millen, Russ Thomas) for so many years I think his son could probably have him committed because it is clear he doesn't have any common sense. Does he even know the Lions have like the worst record of any non-expansion football team? The Chicago Cub's fans feel sorry for the Lions. If he wasn't born into the Ford family and had to depend on his own skills, he would be homeless.

Posted by funshine on 09/07/08 at 4:11PM

You have got to be kidding.
This loss is strictly on Kitna and the defense. Kitna is totally immobile and can't pass. The receivers can't catch the ball if Kitna can't get it to them. The defense CAN'T tackle. Maybe they should watch a high school game to learn. Time to get Kitna out of there and put in Olovsky or Stanton.

    Posted by missing20 on 09/07/08 at 4:15PM

All summer a handfull of guys on here have verbally killed anyone who had ANYTHING slightly negative to say about this team. Anyone who was at any time sceptical of the Lions were labeled "Haters" and were told they knew nothing about football.

Well where are you now? You gridiron masterminds that told everyone that they were idiots and morons for doubting this team.

I took no pleasure in watching the Lions get thrashed by the Falcons today and I certainly am not trying to tell anyone to throw in the towel. However, the next time some of you want to tell us we know nothing about football - MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOUR TALKING ABOUT!

By the way - Where are you at Click? Streaking with men again?

Posted by kawachunk on 09/07/08 at 4:17PM

Yup FORD SUCKS. he cant sell cars and apparantly alls he wants to do is sell football tickets. Hit him where it hurts, Boycott lions games, fire millen.

Posted by ywglions on 09/07/08 at 4:18PM

Kitna looked too much the same, too.

Beginning of the 4th Quarter, down 34-21 i.e. When it COUNTS

    1-10-DET 21 Kitna SACKED (-7 yards)
    2-17-DET 14 Kitna to Johnson (11 yards)
    3-06-DET 25 Kitna to McDonald (8 yards)
    1-10-DET 33 Kitna to Johnson (10 yards)
    1-10-DET 43 Kevin Smith (-1 yards)
    2-11-DET 42 Kitna FUMBLES recovers (-7 yards)
    3-19-DET 34 Kitna SACKED (-1 yards)
    4-20-DET 33 PUNT

14 yards, 2 sacks and a fumbled HANDOFF in 1 drive?!?!?!?

Same old Kitna, same old Lions

    Posted by lionsfan4evr on 09/07/08 at 4:19PM

The Lions actually believed that they are better than they were last year. How pathetic! The Defense never gave the team a chance and Parris Lennon is BUM! They should've kept Buster Davis and made Dizon his backup. The same O & D-lines aren't going to get it done for this Franchise. You might need to replace Backus with Cherlius at Left Tackle.

The Clock management in the 4th quarter was typical of the Lions who have no sense of urgency. Coletto will be unemployed by the end of the year and hopefully the Marinelli experiment will end as well. All of these no talent Marinelli guys who love football weren't repsonsible for the 4-0 preseason. The guys who played their hearts out but got cut did that for us, not the guys on the field today.

Kitna didn't look sharp today and at this point the team should be given to Drew Stanton. He would have beaten out Orlovsky if it weren't for the freak injury.

Altanta had their way with us today and now that it's been exposed the rest of the league will do likewise.

It looks as though we are headed for another top five pick so next year please revamp the lines and dump these career backups who are Marinelli guys/friends.

Posted by MILLENium on 09/07/08 at 4:23PM

I agree FUnshine, Kitna was off on a lot of his throws...Paris Lenon, ugh...I tried to beLIEve that since he was starting in front of Dizon, that he had improved...hahahahaha...he continues to be the most pathetic starting MLB in the history of the league. How did this happen? This team is no better than off than the 2001 Lions.

Posted by LionNFlorida on 09/07/08 at 4:25PM

I am embarassed, I am ashamed and I am pissed off! I NEVER imagined the Lions would lose to the Falcons. This is really unbelievable. I predicted 10 wins. I apparently am a retard. This was supposed to be the "easy win". I am never, ever going to let the Lions get my hopes up again, they are worthless. They would be lucky to win in the CFL! I want Barry, I want Wayne Fontes, at least we had excitement in those days. Can anyone say Mel Gray?

Posted by ywglions on 09/07/08 at 4:26PM

    guitarrock24,

I saw that! It was one of the many rushing TDs. Lenon was standing right on front of Turner. All he had to do is STAND THERE and he had the tackle. What did he do? DOVE to the right INTO the block!!!!!

I hate the Patriots so much. We would have had Mayo, who is starting for the Pats, not 3rd stringing for the Lions, and then we could've gotten another tackle, or at least only used a 2nd on Cherilus.

Posted by ywglions on 09/07/08 at 4:28PM

at least Dan Campbell is injured again so we have the roster space to sign a decent returner

Posted by chetwynn on 09/07/08 at 4:46PM

I've seen the Lions have a real stinker of a game then come back and look like a playoff team. That's been the problem with this team year in and year out, inconsistency.

Somebody gets paralyzed and the next week they kick ass. Somebody else gets killed while mowing his lawn and presto, we have head-hunters on defense the next game(We dedicate this game to and are praying for him and his family.). As long as Mr. Fraud owns this team with his pet president of operations we are in for more of the same.

I would imagine that coach Marinelli will be holding at least one tackling practice.

Question: Which team was George Foster playing for?

Motorcitydc; A word of advice from a long-time Lion fan... let technology help you avoid the heartbreak of Lionists, set the DVR to record the game then run out and mow the lawn real slow. Fast forward while watching the score. If the opponent's score is a blur go back outside and trim the bushes.

    Posted by bobert57 on 09/07/08 at 4:59PM

    Guitarrock24

I saw the same thing. Lenon diving down at the lead blockers legs instead of trying to shed him and get to the runner. Then, completely over-running and taking himself totally out of other plays. JUST PATHETIC!!!!!!!

If these are the "football" guys Rod has been gathering for his team...if these are the "quality character men" that he wants in his locker room...if these are the players that Rod says will play to the end of every play...then he has no other option than to resign immediately. Because he has no business coaching a professional football team.

And if you think I'm over-reacting, or that I'm a hater and just gloating over a Lions loss, let me remind you...this was a complete "Drubbing" by a team with...

    1. A rookie quarterback starting his first game.
    2. An O-Line with (except for their center) almost no NFL experience. And...
    3. A D-Backfield with very little NFL experience.

Where was the "team speed" that Rod was so proud of and had bragged about so much throughout the pre-season? I got news for ya Roddy...Atlanta is a fast team. Not your Lions. I couldn't get over how much faster the Falcons looked than we did.

Where the hell was Cory Redding? Anybody...

Do we need to talk about tackling technique? I thought I was watching a high school team. Again, only one word describes it...PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live in Dallas fellas, and I have seen Jerry Jones build this team into a winner. You can say what you want about the man but he will do anything to win. Even hire troubled but extremely talented players like Tank Johnson and Pacman Jones and let them know that he is their last chance to ressurect their careers. And he gets results. Millen, with the Ford's blessings and Rod's encouragement has swept the locker room clean of the most talented players because Rod can't have anyone defying his authority. Well here is my advice Rod. Grow a backbone and deal with the talented trouble makers. Apply some of your own philosophy and EARN their respect.

I can no longer watch this sad sack team play under Marinelli's guidance. He and Millen and the Ford's have embarrassed me for the last time. I have been a loyal Lion's fan for 40 years but I am through with this team for the 2008 season. I am now leaving my computer to go watch a real football team play. Go Cowboys!!!!!!!!!!

    Posted by flintstone93 on 09/07/08 at 6:31PM

pistolhal, you're one of two types of lions fans: 1) so jaded by years of frustration and losing that nothing the franchise does is right, and you should probably stop watching the team, or 2) just a naturally miserable person who always makes the right decision in hindsight and loves to say "I told you so," and you should proably stop watching the team. which is it?
