Beating the winter blahs

It's January here in Michigan, smack dab in the middle of the grayest, coldest part of the year. The kind of weather that makes me want to curl up under blankets and eat nothing but soup for the next 3 months. Unfortunately, I don't get paid to eat soup, or stay inside, so I fight that urge and venture out onto the frozen tundra.

The cashew crunch and pecan crunch at Chocolatea are deceiving. They look like peanut brittle but are soft and taste like toffee. "You really have to try it, because then you're hooked," store owner Polly Kragt said.
