Charlie Harmon of Davison stands near a model M-7 tank identical to the one he operated while serving as a tank commander in the U.S. Army in the European theater from 1941-1945 during World War II. Harmon served under Patton in the 5th Armored Division and fought in numerous battles including the D-Day invasion on Utah Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. "I'm proud of my service for my country, but there were a lot of guys just as proud as I am that didn't make it back home," said Harmon. "I have to remember those guys."GENESEE COUNTY, Michigan -- Every day they remember.
On Veteran's Day so does the rest of the country.

McCree had retired from the job because of his failing health earlier this year and a deputy was running the office.

Emily Schoenauer, 23, (left) plays with a string in her room as her mother, Carla, (right) watches in their Davison home. Carla raised Emily, who has Down syndrome, in spite of doctors' recommendations at her time of birth."Don't look at it," the doctor told Carla Schoenauer moments after she had given birth. "You don't have to keep it."
In 1985, Schoenauer was 25 years old and "it" was her daughter, born with Down syndrome. The doctor's words terrified her.
For two days she didn't see or hold her infant girl. Her husband, Roger, refused to let doctors' words shake him.
